Question by sonomagirl02: Legal recourse for Lemon Car?
I have looked up the Lemon Law in MD, where I bought the vehicle and live, it only covers vehicles that are less than 48 months old. I need to know if I have any recourse. I purchased a vehicle from a local dealership. It is a used vehicle, ’05 Ford Explorer. The truck was dirty and one window motor stopped working within a month of buying the truck. I bought the vehicle in June. Since then, it’s been in the shop (at the dealership I purchased from) 5 times now for a battery problem. The truck continuously won’t start. They’ve ruled out the common problems, they recently replaced a few obscure parts. This would be the 6th time I will have to have this truck in the shop, and in the last 4 months I’ve only been able to drive the truck for about 3 weeks of that time. The shop keeps trying, I’m just tired of it. I’m trying to figure out if there is any legal recourse for me to get my money back on this car. I don’t want another car from this dealership, obviously. So far, they are being really good about working with me, but I need a reliable vehicle. I really just need to know if there is something I can do.

Question by j_teether: Sold a used car, is it protected under “lemon law”?
I’m in Michigan. I sold my car to some guy and now he says somethings wrong with the oil pressure and that he wants his money back. He claims he’s protected by the lemon law. As far as I can tell the lemon law is more of a garuntee from dealers whose cars are under warranty. I figured since I’m a private party it was sold as is. So am I right? Or am I obligated to return his money?
