I purchased a 2007 Chevy Uplander. The sliding doors are automatic. You can push buttons to open/close the doors. The passenger side rear sliding door keeps messing up. The car still has full warranty and I have taken the van back to the dealership 5 different times. They have worked on the door, and after finishing, they tell me that it will not break anymore. The door is broken right now. This November will be one year exactly. Is there anything else I can do?

If you have recently purchased a vehicle, and are now finding it has mechanical problems, you may have purchased what is known as a lemon. This is in simple terms a car that is not up to standards set forth by the government. There are certain laws that protect the consumer from purchasing these types of cars. It is suggested anyone thinking of purchasing a new vehicle should read up on the lemon laws for their state as well as federal guidelines. There are many places to get information on these laws. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is a law that governs consumer products with warranties. The Uniform Commercial Code is another law that is good reference material to read about. The internet has a vast amount of knowledge on these laws also. Every state has their own laws also; most of these laws define exactly what is covered under them also. These laws will determine what an appropriate amount of times is for a dealer or manufacturer to try and correct the problem before action can be taken against them.

Question by : Getting sued Over a Arizona private party car sale AND laws on my side?
Arizona Lemon Law Private Party Question?
Ok I sold a 93 honda civic and it ran great I got it in a trade. I sold it to these girls who each drove it around I explained that I thought it had an exhaust leak but that I had not training to know for sure. She bought it for 2000 on Feb 25 it is now March 7 and just now shes telling me that the motor blown or somethings really wrong Im not sure. Today I got home and there was a note in the door saying that that they want there money back or they would be going to the police or a layer. Im just wondering ive done some research about it and know that the lemon law only covers from dealerships and I honestly sold them a good car. I also wrote a bill of sale stating that i was selling the car and she was the buyer. Im just wondering to cover my base that this case really wont stand up in court. Any advice would help thanks guys.

so today i got a summon to be at court. I have 20 days to appeal this and give my side which I dont owe her anything if i was getting the running car back id prolly take it back however the engine is blown and the engine is now out of the car. I can also make a counter claim? Does anyone have experince in this? Because i really dont want to lose this case. And she is also stating that i sold her a non working car and said there was nothing wrong with it. SHE DROVE IT HOME.

anyone also got a data point i can print out and show to the judge to show that there is no lemon law for cars that are used and private party just so i can bring proof chances are this judge isnt the greatest.
but i dont know what to make of that law i saw the same thing on line and i cant make heads or tails of it and it doesnt say that private party is off the hook im just looking for poof if you can highlight the parts that help me out id really thank you
NO WAY i totally was as true about the car as i could be. I still have the cragislist add stating the good of the car and under the bad was ruff idel, engine noise, and exhaust leak

If you own a vehicle in the state of Texas; it would do you good to be well versed with the lemon laws in Texas; these are legislative acts designed to protect the consumer’s interest in cases where a faulty vehicle is purchased and even after several attempts the manufacturer or dealer cannot rectify such faults. In other words the law protects your rights to purchase a fully functioning vehicle without any inherent mechanical, structural or component defects.

Lemon laws in Texas cover all types if vehicle including mobile homes and motorcycles; however, the laws only apply if the vehicle has been purchased new from the dealer or the manufacturer. In other words there is no protection offered on the purchase of used or repossessed vehicles. If you have purchased a new car that malfunctions within a short time after purchase, lemon laws in Texas require the manufacturer to address such an issue immediately and take a look at the faulty vehicles and rectify the problem.

Lemon laws in California are covered by the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act; these laws were drafted with the intention to protect the rights of consumers who buy defective motor vehicles and stand the risk of losing money through the use of a faulty product.

The Song-Beverly Act expressly states that if manufacturer or business that have been contracted by the manufacturer and act on his behalf cannot repair the issue in a reasonable number of attempts; the manufacturer is obligated by law to either repair the vehicle ensuring that the defect does not arise again, replace the vehicle or return the consumers purchase price.
