Q&A: 06 jeep commander problems?

November 8, 2011 - 7:15 am 1 Comment

Question by Amy: 06 jeep commander problems?
we bought an (automatic) 4wd 06 jeep commander about 4 months ago, and have been having transmission problems ever since we’ve bought it. the code comes up for the transmission control module and electronic shift module. its not shiftting right, and sometimes not at all.i’ve taken it in several times with no resolve. i have also talked to the dealer that sold it to us several times. it is JUST out of warranty, only has 37k miles on it. i have a V6 model. the 06 commander with V8 got recalled for the same problems, but the V6 has no recalls. so this car is basically a lemon, but being stationed (army)in louisiana, this state does not have lemon laws for used vehicles. (only new) i would open a case with the attorney general, but we are changing duty stations in a month and a half. (which we will be driving up to NY and its really not safe for us and our baby)
so my question is, anyone else own one that has the same problems with the TCM, and what should i do about it?
we traded in a month old 2010 corolla for this, payed about 22 for the corrolla they gave us 17 for trade in and the jeep cost 18, so we still owe like 17 on it. the light isnt on all the time, but it screws up all the time. i told my hubby not to buy it but he wanted something bigger, he’s just dumb and didnt listen. he’s away in training for the army for the next 2 months, so i have to do everything. btw, trade in value is about 6k less than what we owe.
i have taken it to a jeep dealership several times. they first they said it was something about the gasket not being sealed, so they did that. then we took it back and they found the code for the ESM, but they said they test drove it and couldn’t “duplicate the problem” so they just cleared the code and gave it back to me.

Lemon law for used cars in Florida? Bought used from dealer Drove for <30 miles. Problems make car undriveable

Question by answers999: Lemon law for used cars in Florida? Bought used from dealer Drove for <30 miles. Problems make car undriveable
Likely needs a complete coolant system overhaul. It overheats within 2-3 blocks of driving. I expected to have minor problems and have vehicle serviced. Changed oil and serviced engine before problems became apparent. Have now replaced thermostat. Needs a cooling system flush, water pump, and i dont know what else needs to be done to repair overheating problem. The car is sitting at my house unable to be driven even back to the dealership. Notified dealer within 4 hours of purchase that car was not functioning at all. He finally agreed the next day to have a mechanic look at it after Labor day. I am left with a large down payment spent and a financing agreement and no car to drive. Even if I could get it to drive (I put in a thermostat there was none and have supplies to flush the radiator) I want to minimize the miles because the dealer kept insinuating that I did something to make this happen saying stuff like, “I hope YOU havent blown an engine gasket” What options do i have
other than that the car looks to be in excellent condition inside and out. paid for carfax report, other than a minor fender bender in 2005 no negative reports. i love the car but obviously if it doesnt run reliably it is no good to me. work requires 10 mile interstate rush hour driving and i need reliable transportation. i want the car fixed or i want my money back or i want another vehicle off the lot.

Q&A: Does the NY used car lemon law cover these problems?

Question by I-Love-GM: Does the NY used car lemon law cover these problems?
First of all something is wrong with my brakes. Maybe the rotors. When I brake it’s kind of jerky and kind of pulses. Not in an ABS kind of way, as there isn’t a noise.

Q&A: How common are persistent problems with TPMS on Kia’s or Hyundai’s?

June 27, 2011 - 11:54 am No Comments

Question by LgDkHp2199: How common are persistent problems with TPMS on Kia’s or Hyundai’s?
We’ve been having continual problems with TPMS malfunctioning and are going to use the lemon law to either get a replacement or $$$. It’s been serviced over 5 times in the past year and each time it’s only good for one day.

We want to get a sense of whether a replacement vehicle from Hyundai/Kia will most likely have the same TPMS malfunction problem or if it’s just a fluke w/ours… We know some people don’t think it’s a big deal, but if you lose a lot of tire pressure suddenly it could be dangerous.

I bought a used car and there are problems. Do I qualify for lemon law?

Question by theyoungmogul: I bought a used car and there are problems. Do I qualify for lemon law?
I bought a car (1996 bmw 318ti) with 84,000 miles on it about 3 weeks ago. The car has no heat, leaking anti freeze, the airbag light is on, and it idles rough. The dealer that I bought it from told me that he would fix the heat and all other problems when I bring it that following weekend.

Well, I bought it back 3 weekends in a row and the heat isn’t fixed or any of the other problems! The wind chill in NY is 17 degrees this week and I have a 3 year old who is freezing. He keeps making excuses (the part is not in, or the part is coming in, or its hard to fix)

My NISSAN VERSA sucks!!! Any other owners having problems?

Question by meg_c83: My NISSAN VERSA sucks!!! Any other owners having problems?
In July I bought a 2007 Nissan Versa, and within 3 weeks it had been in for repairs 3 times, and since then its been in for an additional 2 problems. These problems are with sensors, I’ve have to have the evaporation flow canister replaced, the tire pressure monitor has come on 2 different times and its currently in repair for an air flow sensor, and my dealership called yesterday to say they were going to have to replace the Intake manifold, as the sensor had welded to that piece and they couldnt get it out.
I’m in RI and planning to contact someone about the Lemon Law, but in the meantime I was just curious is any other Versa owners have experienced any problems?
Let me know, Thanks!

New Dodge Truck has paint and brake problems?

April 24, 2011 - 8:25 pm 2 Comments

Question by texczar: New Dodge Truck has paint and brake problems?
Your Question
Texas lemon laws or Arbitration?
I bought a new 2010 Ram 4×4 was ,000 and once home i noticed the paint was dull in places, i took it to a detail shop and it was brought to my attention the paint has problems so i went back to dealer with in 30 days time and dealer sent it to body shop, shop owner told me the truck was re-clear coated that the problem was a overspray and a Flashing of paint, he buffed it out and warned me to watch it for a re flashing, well 30 days later the problem came back, dealer is no help…so i called DODGE and filed a case now i am not getting much help, CAN I NOW FILE A LEMON LAW case in the courts? The repair would be to totaly re-paint the truck this would lower the market value and my ability to resell it for good price. Now the breaks are going bad, the truck lost brakes twice and deals says “no code on computer NO PROBLEM!” what should i do?
